In Moscow, Baristas to compete in the Cube

From the 1st - 4th October in Moscow, in a unique area created for professionals of the coffee industry called The Coffee Box. Here the 2014 Moscow Barista Championship will take place, workshops, interesting lectures from highly skilled professionals in the coffee segment, tastings, experiments and so on.

“We invited highly skilled professionals of coffee industry to The Coffee Box. They will provide very interesting workshops. All guests can have a chance to learn for the best masters in their sphere, - said founder and owner of coffee-chain “Traveler’s Coffee” Christopher Tara-Brown. – The Barista Championship will be held here, the winners will get cups made by the legendary Reg С Barber. He makes excellent hand-made tampers and for the last 6 years he has produced stunning coffee cups for various championships. Also the winner will receive a La Marzocco LINEA 1EE coffee machine. One of main events of The Coffee Box is the 2014 Moscow Barista Championship. Baristas compete against each other for the chance to take part in the 2014 Russia Barista Championship final. All the coffee machines that will be used at the competition are being provided by the championship partner - La Marzocco and all natural syrups 1883 de Philibert Routin.
Sonja Björk Grant (Head Judge of the World Barista Championship) and Dan Streetman (Head Judge of United States Barista Championship) will choose the best barista at the 2014 Moscow Barista Championship. They will also be giving some interesting workshops.
The amazing Dan Streetman will talk about his experience and what is important for a judge to pay attention to in a competitor’s work. Dan will bring with himself recipes of drinks of world and USA champions, he will describe the taste to the winners and then the baristas will prepare the drinks and invite the guests to try them. Dan’s seminar «Specialty Coffee in New York City» is an overview of popular cafes and roasting companies in United States’ largest city.
Sonja Björk Grant is one of the pioneers of the World Barista Championship and other championships, which are held at the WCE. She has also made a significant contribution to the evaluation of competitions system. Now she is head Judge of the World Barista Championship, Coach of the Year (according to the SCAE, 2007). Two of her seminars will about the history and rules of judging. She will talk about how to use the score sheet and how the championships affect the quality of customer service.
There is a special lecture from Ettore Scagliola is La Marzocco service-manager in The Coffee Box. La Marzocco has reputation the best of manufacturers of coffee machines. On this machines work the best barista of the world. Ettore will tell about La Marzocco’s technology of ideal pressure for espresso. He will answer all guest’s questions.
The Coffee Box is a unique vivid program of national and international events in the Moscow Coffee and Tea Expo. Venue – a 100 square meter cube in Hall 14 of the Moscow, Crocus Expo. It has been prepared in partnership with Traveller's Coffee , La Marzocco (manufacturers of high-quality coffee machines), Routin (manufacturers of natural syrups) and coffee house Double B Coffee &Tea.
